This is so beautifully done. The humor and structure in the kingfisher is so good, and the heron has such a great inversion of what people expect about spring. violencia is something else all together, the English feels a little defiant but also reminds me of a corrido that ends with what reads like un rezo a La Flaquita, lo cual me llegó fuerte. spring thunder itself, I love the violent insistence on life. The way you illustrate growing grief in the water buffalo, and the turn at the end, is really fantastic, too. Thank you for sharing it!
thank you so much, J.W., for deeply reading and feeling it. you get it. love your read/listen on violencia too— and indeed it is un rezo a La Flaquita, who else to call in dire times…
Truly. there's a specific kind of peace that comes with that in heavy or dire times. Thank you again for such a moving set of poems. I'm really looking forward to reading more of your work
thank you so. appreciate you reading. I can really only thunk out a few chords on the piano so the added production quality was needed -- glad it came off as an asset and not just a band-aid...
I love all of these Samara, including the humour which underlies Spring - the delight and madness of life reproducing itself, over and over, yet again....
Ha! Well, yes, Samara. I was certainly feeling it - even though it is now Autumn on my side of the bowling ball.
I realise that I was not subscribed to you. I have just remedied that. A free Sub only, I'm afraid. I have kind of hit my limit for paid subscriptions. All I can offer in return are my own words and images, offered up for anyone and shared with your own - a comical cosmic cross pollination of consciousness - no copulation required.
thank you so much for that read, friend. your poetry always encompasses galaxies’ worth of nuance and depth and you are definitely such an inspiration here
